Parveen Akhtar's Story
“I need to be back on my legs again. Every day my husband and my son leave home without any breakfast and it kills me. What kind of a mother I am if I let my son go to college with an empty stomach?” -Parveen Akhtar
53 years old Parveen Akhtar has been suffering from severe backache for the past 8 months. The pain was mild at first but gradually, it became unbearable. Now, the pain has driven Parveen Akhtar to the point where she is unable to stand on her two legs and needs painkiller injections frequently for short-term relief.
As all the other methods have failed in providing her with a permanent relief, the doctors have advised a decompression surgery – a type of surgery that is used to treat compressed nerves in the lower (lumbar) spine. The surgery is necessary to stabilize her lower back and prevent further deterioration.
Her husband is the sole earner of the family who hardly earns PKR 10,000 per month. The monthly income is barely enough to feed the family. With two children dependent on him, monthly rent and additional medical expenses, he is unable to afford the cost of surgery for his wife.
Upon someone’s recommendation, they registered their case at Transparent Hands. They hope that with your kind help, she will be able to start her life again. Please donate!
