Ramzana Bibi's Story
“My husband went through a long-winded illness for a few years. He had a stroke and passed away seven years ago, leaving me and our six small children all alone. It has been a really difficult journey for us ever since. We have had no financial stability in our lives. If my sons get their wages, we eat. If they don’t, we go hungry. I have had this disease for several years now but getting treated has never been an option.” – Ramzana Bibi
Ramzana Bibi, age 42 years, has been experiencing pain in her right hypochondriac area along with abdominal distention, stretch, and vomiting for the past several years. Her symptoms have grown much worse in the past 2 months. She has been diagnosed with cholelithiasis (gallstones) and for permanent relief, the doctors have advised surgery to remove the gallbladder.
Ramzana Bibi has 3 daughters, two of whom are married and living separately, and 3 sons. She lives with her four children in a small house in Khanewal. When her husband passed away 7 years ago, Ramzana bore the financial responsibility of her family for a while. Then, her sons started to work and took over. Currently, her eldest son earns 12,000 PKR/month working as a laborer with a stonemason. Her second son works part-time at a shop. Collectively, they both earn just 15,000 PKR/month to support the household.
Ramzana Bibi’s sons cannot afford to arrange for her surgery. Her only way of having this operation is through your donations.
