Sultan Ramzan's Story
“He has worked hard all his life to take care of us, sacrificed his own needs to meet ours. This is the time for him to be taken care of but our financial constraints limit us so much. I wish I had the money to give my father every comfort in life. I wish I could get him the best medical care.” – Sultan’s elder son.
For the past year, 77 year old Sultan has experienced intermittent retention of urine along with lower abdominal pain. Over the last four months, it got aggravated to total retention. The doctors diagnosed him with BPH (enlarged prostate) and advised a Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) or a prostatectomy.
Sultan used to work as a mason but has been retired for ten years now. Due to old age weakness and illness, he is mostly bed ridden and is looked after by his wife. His elder son works in a factory and the younger works as a labourer. Together, they earn 18,000 rupees for the family on average, most of which gets spent on household expenditures. They all live in a small house temporarily granted by the government.
When the family got to know of Transparent Hands, they requested help to get Sultan’s surgery done.
