Hafeez -Ur-Rehman, aged 51 years, a resident of Naushehro Feroz felt pain in his right leg and difficulty in movement 2 years ago. He went to the hospital for his checkup. The doctor prescribed him painkillers. He felt relieved for the time being but after some time, the pain became unbearable. He went to the doctor again. This time, after evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with TA rupture. An Achilles tendon rupture is a tear of the tendon that connects your calf muscles to your heel bone. Now, the doctor advised him to undergo a TA repair/ FHL tendon transfer.
This is an expensive procedure and unfortunately, Hafeez-Ur-Rehman’s family cannot afford it. He is the only breadwinner of the family. He is a laborer and his monthly income is PKR. 10,000 per month. With this mere income, he is hardly making the ends meet. Affording this surgery is out of the question. Hafeez-Ur-Rehman shares his ordeal with us int he following words.
“I am a laborer. But due to this ailment, working was very difficult for me. My family depends on me and I am unable to work in this condition. I am finding it difficult to put food on the table these days. How can I afford the hefty cost of this surgery?”

Hafeez-ur-Rehman Beero Khan's Story
Hafeez-ur-Rehman, a fifty-one-year-old resident of Noshero Feroz, ruptured his Achilles tendon three months ago and was enduring pain and disability for the last three months. After the diagnosis, Hafeez was advised to undergo TA Repair using FHL graft. For this purpose, he was sent to Isra University Hospital. His surgery was done on 03-11-2021 by Dr. Pir Abdul Latif. Hafeez was discharged after six days of hospital stay. He is now on his road to recovery.
