Zainab Bibi's Story
“I do not want to burden my children with my troubles. They have their own families to support and aren’t financially well-off. I tell myself that I am old and not long for this world anyway, so I might as well live with this. But the older I get, the lower my pain tolerance becomes. Somedays, it gets really hard to deal with all the aches and pains.” – Zainab Bibi
62-year-old Zainab Bibi is suffering from a lump coming out of her genital tract, frequent abdominal pain, and backache for the last 7 years. Her symptoms have, however, worsened over the past two years rendering her unable to even sit painlessly. She has been diagnosed with utero-vaginal prolapse and the doctors have advised her surgery- vaginal hysterectomy- as a permanent cure.
Zainab Bibi got married about 40 years ago and has 2 sons and 2 daughters who are all married and living separately. Her husband was a labourer but since the last 2 years, he is unable to do any work due to weakness and old age. There is no specific income for this couple; they are often helped by their children and relatives financially. Because of an inability to pay for the surgical costs, Zainab Bibi has tried to carry on despite the discomfort that comes with her condition for almost 7 years. Now, she hopes that Transparent Hands can come to her aid.
Everyone deserves comfort in their old age. Please help us arrange for Zainab Bibi’s surgery so she doesn’t have to continue living in pain.
