Empower Mehrwa Zahid with the Gift of Hearing
Mehrwa Zahid's Story
Mehrwa Zahid, a 2-year-old little girl from Sialkot, has been living in a silent world since birth. Mehrwa smiles and plays like any other child, but she has never heard her mother’s soothing voice, the laughter of kids, and the sounds of nature around her. Her parents consulted a doctor about her hearing impairment, who ran some tests and diagnosed her with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To enable her to hear sounds, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. Unfortunately, Mehrwa’s family cannot afford the high cost of the surgery.
If Mehrwa doesn’t get the cochlear implant surgery soon, the consequences will be severe. She will continue to live in silence, unable to develop the ability to hear and speak. Mehrwa usually becomes frustrated when she cannot understand or be understood by those around her. Her inability to hear is affecting her development and will continue to impact her future.
Mehrwa’s father has passed away, and her uncle financially supports the family. Mehrwa’s mother works as a seamstress and earns just PKR 10,000 monthly. She lives in a two-room brick house with her six family members and survives in extreme poverty. With utility bills adding up to PKR 2000, and a staggering loan of PKR 300,000, the family’s financial situation is stretched thin. They have no room left for savings to pay for the costly surgery. In this time of need, Mehrwa’s mother reached out to Transparent Hands. We listened to her concerns and quickly registered Mehrwa’s case.
Mehrwa’s mother said in despair:
“Mehrwa is my beloved child, my joy and love. It breaks my heart to see her unable to speak or understand me. I want her to live a full life, hear me, and go to school like other children. But I need help.”
This surgery is crucial for her to fully engage with the world, interact with others, and eventually thrive in life. Please donate today to help Mehrwa receive the much-needed cochlear implant surgery. Your generosity will open up a world of possibilities for Mehrwa and change her life forever.

Her parents were worried about her condition, and they took her to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor. After conducting some medical tests, her doctor gave them the shocking news that Mehrwa had sensorineural hearing loss. To unlock the world of sounds for her, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. This news filled her parents’ hearts with concerns as the cost of the surgery was far beyond their reach.
Mehrwa lived in a two-room brick house with her six family members. Mehrwa’s father passed away a few years ago, and her uncle financially supports the family. Mehrwa’s mother worked as a seamstress and earned just PKR 10,000 monthly. Her family was surviving in extreme poverty and they hardly managed to cover their essentials.
