Muhammad Mustafa's Story

Muhammad Mustafa, a 4-year-old innocent boy from Larkana, has been suffering from hearing loss since birth. He struggles to connect with the world around him. His inability to hear means he is falling behind in language development, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult for him to communicate about his most basic needs. His parents consulted a doctor about his hearing impairment. The doctor conducted some medical tests and diagnosed Mustafa with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). To open the door to the world of sounds for him, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. However, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for his family, who are struggling to make ends meet.

This surgery is necessary for Mustafa. If his hearing issue is left untreated, he will not be able to get the maximum benefits from cochlear implant surgery. Mustafa’s parents adore him and have always dreamed of seeing him grow up healthy and happy. His frustration is growing, and his parents are heartbroken to see him so isolated from the world.

Mustafa lives in a 2-marla rented house with his seven family members. His father is a teacher in a private school and earns PKR 54000 monthly. With a family to support, in addition to the monthly house rent of PKR 18000 and utility bills of PKR 2000, their financial situation is stretched thin. They have no savings left to pay for the much-needed surgery for Mustafa. In this time of need, his family contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help.

Mustafa’s parents said in despair:

“Mustafa is our innocent son, and all we want is to give him the ability to hear. It’s painful to see him try to talk and not understand why he can’t hear the sounds around him. Kindly help our son in undergoing the surgery.”

Without the ability to hear, Mustafa may face a life of isolation and limited opportunities. But we can change this. With your generous support, Mustafa can receive the cochlear implant surgery that will transform his life.

Please consider donating today to give Mustafa the gift of hearing. Together, we can open the door to a bright and hopeful future for this little boy.

Muhammad Mustafa's Story

Muhammad Mustafa, a 4-year-old boy from Larkana, had lived in a silent world since birth. His parents began to worry when they noticed that he wasn’t responding to sounds. He couldn't even communicate his basic needs. His parents consulted a doctor about his condition, who conducted some medical tests. After evaluation, Mustafa’s parents' worst fears were confirmed—he had sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised cochlear implant surgery and explained that this implant could restore his ability to hear, but without it, Mustafa would face a lifetime of communication challenges. Unfortunately, the surgical cost was overwhelming for his family.

Mustafa lived in a modest rented house with his seven family members. His father, the sole provider for the family, worked as a teacher and his income covered their basic needs only. The cost of the cochlear implant surgery was far beyond what they could afford, and they feared that Mustafa would grow up in silence. Determined to find a solution, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to their concerns, we immediately registered Mustafa’s case.

On 30th August 2024, Mustafa was admitted to GIMS Hospital in Gambat. The surgery took place on 31st August 2024. Dr. Maqbool Ahmed skillfully inserted the internal component of the cochlear implant. After receiving post-operative care and critical monitoring, Mustafa was discharged in satisfactory condition on 1st September 2024.

Six weeks after the surgery, the external component of the cochlear implant was fitted. To improve his communication and language skills, Mustafa now attends speech therapy sessions. His parents expressed their gratitude as follows:

“We were hoping for the day when Mustafa could hear us and it came sooner than we were expecting. It’s a miracle, and we are so thankful to everyone who made this possible. You’ve given our son a new life.”

Mustafa’s journey from silence to sounds was made possible through your generous contributions. His family is incredibly grateful for your continued support in making a significant difference in Mustafa’s life.
