Four-year-old Viran Kumar, a resident of Ghotki, has been facing congenital sensorineural hearing loss. His parents first noticed something amiss when he turned one year old and showed no response to their voices. Concerned, they took him to the local hospital, where thorough tests were conducted. Following consultations, Viran was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness, prompting the doctor to recommend cochlear implant surgery. This surgical procedure utilizes electrical stimulation of the cochlear nerve to restore hearing. The implant consists of external and internal components, with the external part attached behind the ear. It processes sounds using a microphone before transmitting them to the implant inside the ear.

At the tender age of 4, Viran faced the challenge of sensorineural hearing loss, a condition that had kept him from fully experiencing the wonders of sound. However, Viran and his family were determined to overcome this obstacle and sought the help of the medical experts at the Institute of Medical Sciences in Gambat.

On a fateful day, the 5th of December 2023, Viran was admitted to the hospital, marking the beginning of a life-changing chapter. With eager anticipation, Viran underwent a groundbreaking right-sided cochlear implant surgery under the skilled hands of the esteemed Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, a renowned surgeon. The procedure utilized a state-of-the-art cochlear implant, specifically designed to restore hearing function in individuals with sensorineural hearing loss.

The surgery was a resounding success, opening up a world of sound for Viran.
