Muhammad Jamal's Story

Muhammad Jamal, a vibrant and curious 3-year-old, has been battling hearing loss since birth. Growing up in a mud-walled village near Rahim Yar Khan, Jamal’s parents were unaware of his condition until he was two years old. It was then that they took him to the nearest hospital, where a series of diagnostic tests revealed the extent of his hearing impairment.

Jamal lives in a mud-walled village near Rahim Yar Khan with his parents and one sibling. His father works in a private office, earning just PKR 22,000 per month, which is barely enough to cover the family’s basic expenses.

“When the doctor told us that Jamal needed cochlear implant surgery, our hearts sank,” recalls Jamal’s father “We knew that the cost of such a costly surgery was far beyond our means. As a laborer, I barely earn enough to provide for our family, let alone afford specialized medical care.”

Determined to help their son, Asad and his wife explored every avenue, seeking assistance from local organizations and government agencies. Their search led them to Transparent Hands, a trusted non-profit dedicated to providing medical aid to those in need.

“Transparent Hands listened to our story and understood the gravity of Jamal’s situation,” Asad said. “They immediately registered his case and informed us that he was a candidate for a life-changing cochlear implant surgery.”

The cost of a cochlear implant, however, was a daunting obstacle. This costly surgery was far beyond the family’s financial capabilities. Undeterred, Transparent Hands launched a crowdfunding campaign to rally the community’s support and raise the necessary funds for Jamal’s procedure.

“We will be overwhelmed by the generosity from all generous donors” Jamal’s father expressed. “Knowing that complete strangers were willing to contribute to Jamal’s well-being gave us a glimmer of hope in our darkest hour.” Your funds will help Jamal to undergo this life-changing procedure with success, and Jamal will be on the path to regain his hearing and reconnecting with the world around him.

Muhammad Jamal's Story

Muhammad Jamal, a 3-year-old boy from Rahim Yar Khan, had been struggling with hearing loss since early childhood. His parents learned about his condition when he was two years old. His parents were concerned about their son's inability to respond to sounds and took him to a hospital for consultation. After running some diagnostic tests, his doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant is the best option for Muhammad Jamal to gain the sense of hearing.

However, his father could not bear the financial burden of this costly surgery. He found himself with no feasible options to pay for his son's surgery. Filled with hope, Jamal's family contacted Transparent Hands for financial assistance.

Jamal was admitted to the GIMS Hospital on 7th June 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life. Under the skilled hands of Dr. Maqbool Ahmad, Jamal underwent a right-sided cochlear implant surgery. The internal component of the cochlear implant was installed and the external component was installed after six weeks.

To maximize the benefits of the cochlear implant and gain effective communication skills, Jamal embarked on a comprehensive speech therapy program.

Jamal's father said with gratitude:

"I never thought that my son would be able to hear the sounds around him. Transparent Hands helped us overcome this obstacle in his life. I don't have words to describe my happiness. I am extremely thankful for all the support from kind-hearted donors."

Jamal's family knows his son’s journey towards hearing is just starting, but they're hopeful that he will have a future where he can enjoy all the sounds around him. Now, he can live his life to the fullest and explore endless possibilities.

Your contributions, regardless of their size, played a pivotal role in securing Jamal's future.
