Help Khatija Get Rid of Fibroids
Khatija Bibi's Story
Khatija, a 48-year-old resident of Karachi, is facing a challenging situation due to her long-standing struggle with heavy menstrual bleeding caused by uterine fibroids. Despite trying various treatments, her condition has not improved, affecting her daily life and ability to care for her family.
Khatija lives in a small rented house in Karachi with only two rooms with her husband and one child. Khatija’s financial circumstances add to her difficulties. Her husband works as a laborer, earning a meager income of just PKR 15,000. With utility bills amounting to PKR 2,000 and house rent of PKR 5,000 to be paid, the financial strain is overwhelming.
Khatija, as a housewife, is burdened with responsibilities due to her deteriorating health, which prevents her from fulfilling them. Her doctor has recommended a total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH) for Fibroids, as the necessary procedure to alleviate her condition and improve her quality of life.
However, the cost of the surgery is beyond their means, leaving Khatija in a desperate situation. With a heavy heart, she humbly appeals in the following words:
“Carrying hope in my heart, I respectfully reach out for your compassion and generosity. Your financial assistance is crucial for my surgery, easing my family’s load and helping me restore my health so I can shoulder my duties with newfound vigour.”
Khatija has reached out to Transparent Hands, remaining determined and hopeful in her search for compassionate individuals willing to contribute towards her surgery. Khatija Bibi's Story
Khatija, a 48-year-old resident of Karachi, was suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding. Concerned about her condition, she consulted a doctor who ran some diagnostic tests and an ultrasound scan. Upon evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with Uterine Fibroids. Khatija had been taking medications for two years but didn’t get relief. The persistent pain and heavy bleeding made it difficult for her to care for her family or even carry out basic tasks. She consulted another doctor who recommended Hysterectomy—a surgery to remove her uterus. However, Khatija couldn’t afford the cost of the surgery.
Khatija’s husband works long hours as a daily wage laborer but barely earns PKR 15000 per month. His income is just enough to meet their basic needs. The cost of the surgery was beyond their financial ability. In this time of need, Khatija’s family turned to Transparent Hands for help. Understanding the critical nature of her situation we registered her case. Thanks to the support of our donors, Khatija was able to undergo the necessary surgery.
On 04-05-2024, Khatija was admitted to Murshid Hospital Karachi, and her Hysterectomy was performed by Dr.Samreen. On 08-05-2025, Khatija was discharged from the hospital in stable condition. During her stay in the hospital, she received essential medications and care from the medical staff.
Khatija shared with tears of joy in her eyes:
“I can’t express how grateful I am. For months, I lived in pain and fear, but now, I feel like a new person. Thank you for giving me back my life and my health. Now I can live a pain-free life.”
The surgery was a success. The severe bleeding and constant pain that had once controlled her life were gone. We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who supported Khatija during this difficult time. Your generosity has made a significant difference, allowing Khatija to reclaim her health and life. You became the light in Khatija’s darkest hours.
