Parveen Akhtar's Story

Parveen Akhtar, a 54-year-old resident of Mianwali, is facing an arduous battle against pain and swelling in her left jaw, accompanied by restricted mouth opening. After an incisional biopsy, she received a devastating diagnosis from her doctors: well-differentiated Differentiated Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Left Retro molar Region and Lingual Border of the Tongue. The doctors have recommended tumor resection and neck dissection as the necessary course of action.

Parveen’s life has taken an unexpected turn, filled with uncertainty and despair. As a housewife, she heavily relied on her husband for financial support. However, tragedy struck when her husband passed away, leaving her and her two sons behind. With her eldest son being the sole earner, working as a daily wage laborer, and earning a monthly income of approximately PKR 15,000, the financial strain has become unbearable. They reside in their own house, but the meager income barely covers utility bills, grocery expenses, and daily necessities, leaving no room for savings. Additionally, they have a loan of PKR 25,000 that they are struggling to repay.

Overwhelmed by her circumstances, Parveen shares her heartfelt plea, saying, “I never imagined facing such a daunting health challenge alone. My husband’s demise has left us in financial hardship, and the burden of this illness is weighing heavily on our shoulders. I pray for a ray of hope to relieve us from this dark cloud.”
