Zikran Khan's Story

Zikran is just a one-year-old baby and yet he has experienced more sickness and suffering than most of us. Even your smallest contribution will help Zikran live a healthy life. We urge you to please donate and help us save Zikran’s heart.

Zikran Khan, a resident of Swat, has been suffering from a congenital heart disease. He has been suffering from symptoms such as cyanosis and shortness of breath and repeated episodes of chest infection since birth. Zikran’s parents noticed his unusual pattern of often falling sick. Upon consultation, he was advised by the doctor to undergo a number of diagnostic tests to determine his illness. Zikran’s reports revealed that he is suffering Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC) and Atrial Septal Defect.

TAPVC is a rare birth defect of the heart in which the veins bringing blood back from the lungs (pulmonary veins) don’t connect to the left atrium like usual. The doctor advised her to undergo a TAPVC Repair after an Open Heart Surgery. The goal of surgery is to repair the defects of Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection (TAPVC) so the heart can work as normally as possible. Repairing the defects can greatly improve a child’s health and quality of life.

Zikran’s father is a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR 15,000 per month. In these gloomy times and with a meager income, it is impossible for Zikran’s parents to afford the hefty cost of this procedure. Zikran’s sorrowed mother expressed her feelings in the following words:

“This feeling of helplessness is unbearable. I am overwhelmed by despair when I think about my son’s future if nobody helps us. Please donate as much as you can for his surgery.”

Transparent Hands has registered Zikran’s case. But, this will not be possible without your support. Kindly contribute generously and help us save Zikran’s heart.
