Sawera Rizwan's Story

Since birth, Sawera Rizwan, an 8-year-old girl from Kasur, has struggled with shortness of breath and chest discomfort. Simple activities like walking short distances, climbing stairs, or playing with her friends leave her breathless and fatigued. Unlike other children of her age who are growing and thriving, Sawera continues to experience poor weight gain and weakness. Deeply concerned for their daughter’s health, her parents took her to a nearby hospital where they consulted a doctor.

After undergoing a thorough examination and several diagnostic tests, she was diagnosed with a Large Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Right Ventricular Outflow Tract (RVOT) Obstruction, and Right Coronary Cusp (RCC) Prolapse with Aortic Regurgitation (AR). These heart defects disrupt the normal flow of blood in her body. The doctor has recommended Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV) Repair, a critical heart surgery that is essential to correcting the defects and restoring normal blood flow. However, this life-saving surgery is far beyond the family’s financial capacity.

Sawera’s condition is worsening with time, and without surgical intervention, her life is at serious risk. If left untreated, her heart condition may lead to irreversible damage, heart failure, or even death.

Sawera lives in a rented house with her parents and two siblings. Her father, a daily wage laborer, earns just PKR 30,000 per month. Out of this limited income, the family pays PKR 6,000 for house rent, PKR 1,500 for utility bills, and PKR 2,000 for educational expenses. After covering these basic needs, nothing remains to save for such a major medical procedure. During this challenging time, her family has contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help. Her parents said in despair:

“We can’t see our daughter suffer like this every day.  She is struggling to survive each day of her life. We want to give her a healthy life, but we simply cannot afford the surgery. We ask for your support during this difficult time. Kindly help us.”
