Rally for Dua Zareef’s Open Heart Surgery
Dua Zareef's Story
Dua Zareef, a 6-year-old girl from Dera Ghazi Khan, is facing a challenging health condition that has deeply impacted her life. She suffers from shortness of breath, chest pain, and struggles with weight gain. Her parents first became aware of her condition when she was just 1 year old. After undergoing diagnostic tests and evaluations, the doctor diagnosed her with a large ASD with right ventricle volume overload, and advised her to undergo ASD (patch closure) surgery. This surgical intervention is crucial to alleviate her symptoms and improve her quality of life.
Unfortunately, Dua’s family is facing dire financial circumstances. Her father tragically passed away two years ago, leaving her mother as the sole caretaker. They currently reside in her uncle’s house in Dera Ghazi Khan, which consists of two rooms, one of which is shared by Dua, her mother, and her sibling. The entire family is dependent on Dua’s uncle, who is the sole breadwinner and just earns PKR 25,000 as a daily wager. With no other source of income, he struggles to meet the financial demands of his own family, and he is not financially stable to cover the expenses of Dua’s necessary surgery.
Dua’s mother said the following words with teary eyes:
“In my helplessness, I appeal to your hearts for support. With the loss of my husband and limited savings, I find myself unable to afford the surgical expenses for Dua. We are entirely dependent on my brother-in-law, who has his own family to care for. The burden of medical expenses in our limited income of PKR 25,000 is simply insurmountable. Your generosity and compassion can bring hope to my daughter’s life in this time of need.”
Transparent Hands understands the gravity of Dua’s situation and is committed to providing her with the medical treatment she urgently requires. However, we cannot achieve this without the support of kind-hearted individuals like yourself. By donating towards Dua’s surgery, you can make a profound impact on her life and offer her a chance at a brighter future.

Together, we can provide Dua with the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Let us stand together and bring hope to Dua and her family during this difficult time. Your support will make a world of difference to them.

Dua Zareef's Story
Dua Zareef, a 6-year-old from Dera Ghazi Khan, had been experiencing the symptoms of a congenital heart defect since birth. The condition caused breathlessness, tiredness, weakness, and chest pain. These challenges prevented her from gaining weight and limited her ability to play like other kids. Dua’s parents found out about her condition when she was just a one-year-old baby.
The doctor diagnosed her with RVVO (Right Ventricular Volume Overload) and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). ASD is a congenital heart disease characterized by an abnormal opening between the upper chambers of the heart. Dua lives with her uncle as her father died two years ago. Unfortunately, the cost of this life-saving surgery was beyond their financial means. Her parents contacted Transparent Hands for support and we registered her case.
With our assistance, she was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital in Lahore, where Dr. Jamal Abdul Nasir successfully performed the ASD repair surgery on 22-05-2024. Following the operation, Dua stayed in the hospital for four days. During her stay, she received the necessary care and monitoring.
Dua's mother expressed her emotions as:
"I used to pray for a miracle. I am overwhelmed to see my daughter get a second chance at life with the help of Transparent Hands. She can now focus on her studies and live a healthy life like other girls of her age. We are full of hope and happiness now."
The impact of the donors' kindness and compassion on Dua and her family cannot be described. Their generous contributions have restored hope in the hearts of her loved ones. The gratitude expressed by Dua and her family towards the compassionate donors is immeasurable. Their generosity has forever changed the lives of Dua Zareef and her family, providing them with joy and the opportunity to embrace a healthier future.
