Jehanzeb Sultan's Story

Jehanzeb Sultan, a 68-year-old man from Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been suffering from persistent pain and swelling in his left knee for years. His condition has made it challenging for him to perform even his routine tasks. The pain has grown so intense that he can no longer walk without support, and even standing for a short time is a struggle for him. Recently, he went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing an X-ray and some other lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Jehanzeb with left knee Osteoarthritis. His doctor has recommended a Left-Sided Total Knee Replacement (TKR) to restore his mobility and relieve his chronic pain. However, the high cost of this life-changing surgery is far beyond his financial means.

If Jehanzeb does not undergo surgery, he will continue to suffer from constant pain, making it difficult for him to stand, sit, or walk. Over time, his condition may deteriorate further, leading to joint deformity, increased stiffness, and severe cartilage damage.

Due to his age and deteriorating condition, Jehanzeb has been unemployed for a long time. His son, the sole breadwinner of the family, works as a chef and earns PKR 40,000 per month. This income supports the entire household and covers essential expenses, including utility bills of PKR 6,000 and educational expenses of PKR 10,000 for younger family members. Despite his son’s hard work, the family’s limited income is barely enough to cover their basic needs. Saving for Jehanzeb’s surgery is impossible for them. Each passing day, his condition worsens, and his quality of life continues to decline.

With eyes full of tears, Jehanzeb shared:

“I’ve spent my life working hard and supporting my family, but now, I feel helpless. This knee pain has made me a burden on others, and I just want to walk on my own again. Please help me get back on my feet.”
