Safia Bibi, a 33-year-old woman from Karachi, has been suffering from a painful condition for the past three years. She struggles with painful defecation and has experienced off-and-on bleeding per rectum, which has deeply affected her physical and emotional well-being. Daily activities have become difficult. Concerned about her condition, Safia finally consulted a doctor. After a thorough medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with an Anal Fissure—a small tear in the lining of the anus that causes severe pain and bleeding during bowel movements. The doctor has advised Examination Under Anesthesia (EUA) and to proceed with necessary surgery as per the examination findings. This will prevent further complications. 

Delaying this treatment may cause the fissure to worsen. It may increase the risk of infection and lead to chronic pain and psychological distress. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is beyond her family’s financial capacity.

Safia lives in a small rented house in Karachi with her husband and two children. Her husband works as a driver and earns a modest income of PKR 40,000 per month. From this amount, they pay PKR 12,000 for house rent, PKR 13,000 for utility bills, and PKR 1800 for their children’s school fees. After covering the basic expenses, nothing is left to manage the cost of Safia’s surgery. During this challenging time, they have turned to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.
