Restore Begum Mai’s Eyesight with Surgery

Begum Mai's Story
Begum Mai, a 64-year-old woman from Multan, is struggling with severe vision problems that have made even simple daily tasks a constant challenge. She was once an independent and active woman, but now she finds it hard to move around without support and often bumps into things due to her blurry vision. Deeply concerned about her worsening condition, her family took her to a local hospital, where she underwent a detailed eye examination. After several tests, the doctor diagnosed her with Left Subluxated IOL with Bag Complex — a condition where the lens implant from previous surgery becomes dislocated. To restore her vision, the doctor advised Left IOL + Bag Removal with Anterior Vitrectomy and Scleral Fixation. However, the surgical cost is overwhelming for Begum Mai.
Without timely surgical intervention, her vision may continue to decline. It may even result in permanent blindness in her left eye. The loss of vision not only affects her physical health but also her mental well-being, leaving her dependent on others for even the most basic activities.
Begum Mai is a widow and lives with her daughter and son-in-law. Her son-in-law works as a laborer and earns only PKR 15,000 per month. This modest income barely covers their household expenses, including utility bills amounting to PKR 5000, food, and other living expenses. With no personal income or savings, Begum Mai and her family are unable to afford the cost of this much-needed eye surgery.
Begum Mai said in despair:
“It’s heartbreaking not being able to see my loved ones clearly. I feel lost and helpless when I struggle to move around the house. Every day, I live in fear of total darkness taking over my world. I just want to regain my sight and live with dignity again.”
Begum Mai needs your support to undergo the surgery that will restore her vision and help her regain control over her life. Your generous contribution can make this life-changing treatment possible.
