His loved ones are heartbroken over the thought of Saeed spending the rest of his life in isolation and silence. Seven-year-old Saeed, a resident of Quetta, has been suffering from congenital sensorineural hearing loss. His parents first noticed something was wrong when he was one year old and wasn’t responding to their voices. His parents took him to the local hospital, where his tests were done. Upon consultation, he was diagnosed with sensorineural deafness. The doctor advised him to undergo cochlear implant surgery. A small electronic device called a cochlear implant electrically stimulates the hearing nerve. Internal and external parts make up the implant. Behind the ear is the internal part. The microphone processes sounds and sends them to the implant.

He lives in a joint family of seventeen members. His family is not in a stable financial position to pay for an expensive surgery. His father said it in a depressed tone:

Saeed, a seven-year-old boy from Quetta, has been facing challenges due to congenital sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery as a solution.

Unfortunately, Saeed's family was not financially stable enough to afford the expensive surgery. In search of assistance, Saeed's father reached out to Transparent Hands, hoping to provide his son with the gift of hearing. Eventually, Saeed was admitted to the National Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Naveed Aslam successfully performed the cochlear implant surgery on 11-08-2023. After spending one day in the hospital, he was discharged.

After a few weeks, he returned to the hospital to have the external component of the cochlear implant fixed. This allowed him to enter a world of sound, enhancing his language and communication skills. The doctor recommended speech therapy sessions to help Saeed gradually improve his understanding of speech and develop his language abilities.

The cochlear implant opened up a new world for Saeed, enabling him to engage in education, social interactions, and a more fulfilling life. It acted as a conduit to the world of sound, allowing him to actively participate in conversations and feel connected during social occasions.
