Salar Abdul's Story

In the heart of Larkana, a three-year old child named Salar, has faced the challenges of hearing loss since birth. His parents discovered his condition when he turned one, prompting them to seek medical assistance. After comprehensive examinations and consultations, the doctors recommended a life-changing cochlear implant surgery, holding the promise of restoring Salar’s ability to hear.

Salar resides in a rented house with his parents and four siblings. His father, a diligent daily wager, earns a modest income of PKR 30,000 per month. However, the financial constraints they face make it impossible to afford the costly surgery that could transform Salar’s life. With daily expenses, including rent of PKR 5,000, utility bills totaling PKR 3,000, and school fees amounting to PKR 2,000, the burden of their financial responsibilities seems insurmountable.

In a heartfelt plea, he expressed their deep longing, saying,

“Our son’s hearing loss has brought immense sadness to our lives. We yearn for him to experience the joy of hearing and communicating like any other child. The financial burden is overwhelming. Please, we implore you, help us give our son the gift of sound.”

Filled with despair, Salar’s father has turned to Transparent Hands, seeking assistance in securing the necessary funds for his son’s cochlear implant surgery. Salar Abdul's Story

Salar, a three-year-old boy, had been grappling with the challenges of hearing loss since birth. It wasn't until his first birthday that his parents discovered the true extent of his condition, prompting them to seek medical attention. After comprehensive examinations and consultations with healthcare professionals, the family received life-changing news – Salar was a candidate for a cochlear implant surgery, a procedure that held the promise of restoring his ability to hear.

However, the financial burden associated with such a high-cost operation proved to be a daunting obstacle for Salar's family. Residing in a rented house with his parents and four siblings, and with his father earning a modest income of PKR 30,000 per month as a diligent daily wager, the family simply lacked the resources to afford the life-changing surgery.

Filled with despair and a deep desire to help their son, Salar's parents turned to Transparent Hands, a beacon of hope for families in need. Through the generosity of donors, Salar was admitted to GIMS Hospital, where on May 8, 2024, the skilled hands of Dr. Maqbool expertly installed the internal component of the cochlear implant. After a brief two-day recovery period, Salar was discharged, embarking on a transformative journey.

In the weeks that followed, the external component of the cochlear implant was secured, and Salar began a series of speech therapy sessions. His progress, a testament to the power of determination and the compassion of others, has been nothing short of remarkable.

Today, Salar's world is no longer shrouded in silence. With the gift of sound, he can now engage with his family, explore his surroundings, and unlock a realm of possibilities that were once beyond his reach. This heartwarming success story stands as a shining example of the profound impact that donor-funded medical interventions can have on the lives of those in need.
