Safeer Haider's Story

Meet Safeer Haider, a 4-year-old innocent boy from Daska, who has been suffering from the inability to hear the sounds around him since birth. Safeer is unable to enjoy the precious moments of his childhood fully. His parents noticed his unresponsiveness to sounds when he couldn’t react to the loud noises as a baby. They took him to a nearby hospital and received a consultation from a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL). This news was shocking for his parents. The doctor advised cochlear implant surgery, but the surgical cost was beyond his family’s financial reach.

The sooner Safeer receives the cochlear implant, the better his chances of speech and language development which are important at his age. If he doesn’t undergo the surgery on time, he might not be able to develop the ability to hear and speak.

Safeer lives in a small house with his four family members. He has one sibling who is young and studying. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, is a police employee and earns just enough to cover necessities. With his modest monthly income, he barely covers utility bills, groceries, and educational expenses of PKR 5000. The family’s financial situation is stretched thin and they can’t afford to pay for the expensive cochlear implant surgery.

During this time of need, Safeer’s family reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us to register his case. Safeer’s parents said in despair:

“As Safeer’s parents, we want nothing more than to help our son succeed in life. This surgery can provide him with the power to listen, but our financial struggles are holding us back. We are seeking assistance, so our son can experience the joy of sounds. Please help us.”

The cochlear implant surgery can open up the door to new opportunities for Safeer. He is counting on your kindness. Together, we can enable Safeer to hear his loved ones and communicate effectively with them.

Come forward and donate for Safeer’s cochlear implant surgery.

Safeer Haider's Story

Safeer Haider, a 4-year-old boy from Daska, was unable to hear the sounds around him. His hearing issue filled his parent’s hearts with concerns and they decided to consult a doctor. When they took him to a local hospital, the doctor performed some medical tests and diagnosed Safeer with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL). This news was shocking for Safeer’s parents and they never imagined that their child would be deaf. To enable him to hear and speak, the doctor advised cochlear implant surgery. For Safeer’s parents, the cost of the surgery was something impossible to bear.

Safeer lived in a small house with his four family members. His father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a police employee and earned just enough to cover necessities. Supporting a family of four on a limited income made it impossible to afford the expensive surgery. Their financial struggles left them feeling helpless and heartbroken about their son’s condition. A neighbor informed them about Transparent Hands, and they reached out for assistance. We promptly registered Safeer’s case and arranged for his surgery.

On 26th November 2024, Safeer was admitted to Evercare Hospital, Lahore, where Dr. Imran Saeed performed the procedure to implant the internal component of the cochlear device. After receiving post-operative care and monitoring, Safeer was discharged in satisfactory condition on 27th November 2024.

In 6 to 8 weeks, the external component of the cochlear implant will be installed, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Safeer’s life. Following this, Safeer will attend speech therapy sessions to develop his communication skills.

Safeer’s parents expressed their joy as follows:

“It’s a blessing to see Safeer respond to sounds for the first time. Before the surgery, my child struggled to hear the world around him. Now, he is discovering sounds he never knew existed. You have changed his life forever. We are truly thankful for this gift.”

The cochlear implant surgery was successful and Safeer can now have the same opportunities as other children. Safeer’s family is overjoyed to see him taking his first steps toward hearing and speaking. They are immensely grateful to you for changing Safeer’s life.
