Musarat Safdar's Story

Meet Musarat Safdar, a 61-year-old widow from Lahore, who is facing immense challenges due to pain and discomfort in her upper right abdominal region. Every meal is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and intolerance to fatty meals. This condition has affected her quality of life. Concerned about her condition, she went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing an ultrasound scan and some necessary lab tests, the doctor diagnosed Musarat with Symptomatic Gallstones. It is a condition caused by the deposition of hard mineral deposits in the gallbladder. To relieve her pain, the doctor recommended an open cholecystectomy. However, her family can’t afford her treatment. Without timely treatment, Musarat Safdar’s condition may worsen significantly. The pain and digestive issues can become more severe, making it increasingly difficult for her to eat properly. Complications such as infection or blockage of the bile duct may also arise.

Musarat lives in a modest rented home with her son, daughter, and four grandchildren. Her son works as a daily wage laborer, and her daughter earns a small income as a housemaid. Together, they make around PKR 40,000 per month. This income is barely enough to cover their monthly rent of PKR 12,000, utility bills of PKR 5,000, and basic food expenses. The family is surviving in poverty and can’t afford Musarat’s much-needed surgery.

With tearful eyes, Musarat shared her plea as follows:

“Due to this illness, I cannot even eat properly. We already face financial hardships and can’t afford this surgery. Kindly support me in getting this treatment so that I can live without pain.”

Musarat has spent her life taking care of her family, and now she needs support in her time of need. You can be a source of hope for her.

Give Sadaqah and help Musarat Safdar undergo cholecystectomy.
