Azra Successfully Underwent Tonsillectomy

Azra Bibi's Story

Azra, a 14-year-old girl from Karachi, was experiencing the sensation of a lump in her throat while swallowing. Moreover, she suffered from repeated episodes of sore throat, which made it challenging for her to focus on her studies and carry out her routine tasks. Worried about her health, her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After performing some necessary tests and examinations, the doctor diagnosed Azra with chronic tonsillitis. To relieve her pain and discomfort, the doctor advised tonsillectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family.

Azra lived in a modest home with her joint family of five members. Her father and brothers worked as daily wage laborers and earned a monthly income of PKR 35,000. This income was insufficient to cover their utility bills, educational expenses, as well as food expenses. They faced financial hardships and were unable to pay for Azra’s much-needed surgery. Their neighbors became a source of hope for them as they told them about Transparent Hands. Azra’s family contacted us and asked for help. After listening to their concerns, we swiftly registered her case.

On April 8, 2025, Azra was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. On the same day, Dr. Mubashir performed her tonsillectomy, relieving her persistent pain and discomfort. After the successful surgery, Azra received post-operative care and was discharged in satisfactory condition on April 9, 2025.

Azra’s parents were overjoyed, and they said:

“We can’t describe our happiness in words. Azra is now living a life free of pain. Her constant throat infections are gone, and she can study, eat, and sleep peacefully. We are so grateful to all the kind donors who made this possible for our daughter.”

Azra’s life has changed for the better. She is now full of energy and has returned to her studies.
