Gul Sher's Story

Gul Sher, a 73-year-old man from Karachi, had been living with pain and swelling in his groin area for the past four months. What initially seemed like a minor discomfort gradually turned into a serious health concern, making everyday activities increasingly difficult. Walking short distances, standing for extended periods, and even sitting comfortably became a challenge. At an age when he hoped to spend his days peacefully with his loved ones, Gul Sher found himself struggling with constant pain. After a detailed examination, the doctor diagnosed him with a right-sided inguinal hernia, a condition in which abdominal tissue pushes through a weakened area of the abdominal wall, causing a painful bulge in the groin. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure was beyond the family’s financial means.

Gul Sher lives in Karachi with his large joint family of twelve members. His household depends entirely on the earnings of his two sons, who hold private jobs and collectively earn only PKR 75,000 per month.
