Khadija’s Heart Surgery was Successful
Khadija Zafar 's Story
Four-year-old Khadija Zafar, a resident of Bahawalpur, was born with a congenital condition known as Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), characterized by a hole between the atria of her heart. This condition has resulted in Khadija experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, and inadequate weight gain. While her diagnosis was made when she reached the age of one, the recommended course of action involved open-heart surgery to close the ASD, a procedure beyond the financial means of her family.
In a quest for assistance, Khadija’s family sought the support of Transparent Hands and requested our help, ensuring the urgency of the essential surgery she required. Consequently, Khadija was admitted to the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital, where the operation was expertly performed by Dr. Faiz Rasool on 3-08-2023.
Subsequent to the surgery, Khadija’s recovery displayed notable progress. The closure of the ASD proved to be a transformative milestone, alleviating her distressing symptoms and facilitating improved well-being.
Following a brief hospital stay of two days, Khadija was discharged. With the support of the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation and other generous donors, Khadija’s life-changing surgery became a reality. The moment her parents witnessed their beloved daughter’s remarkable recovery, their hearts overflowed with gratitude.
Following the surgery, not only was Khadija’s life saved, but a world of new possibilities unfolded before her. With her health restored, she can now embrace a carefree childhood, liberated from the limitations she once faced.
None of this would have been possible without the kindness and generosity of donors like you. Your contributions have had a profound impact, not only on Khadija but on her entire family. The immense burden lifted from her parents’ shoulders, knowing their daughter now has a chance at a healthy and prosperous future, is immeasurable. We extend our deepest gratitude to every donor who made this life-saving surgery a reality for Khadija.
