Musfira’s Tympanoplasty was Successful
Musfira Bibi's Story
Musfira, a 13-year-old girl from Karachi, had been enduring the distressing symptoms of ear discharge and decreased hearing ability for the past five years. Despite seeking help from local doctors who provided temporary relief through painkillers, her condition remained unresolved. Determined to find a solution, Musfira consulted an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist who conducted a thorough examination and performed diagnostic tests.
The results revealed that Musfira was suffering from Bilateral Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). This condition occurs when there is persistent drainage from the middle ear due to a perforation of the eardrum. Understanding the severity of Musfira’s condition, the ENT specialist recommended tympanoplasty, a surgical procedure to repair the perforated eardrums and treat CSOM.
However, Musfira’s family faced financial constraints, with her father struggling to support a family of seven members. In a ray of hope, Musfira’s case was registered with Transparent Hands, and we promised to support Musfira in her journey towards recovery.
With the aid of compassionate donors, Musfira’s dream of receiving the necessary treatment became a reality. She was admitted to Murshid Hospital, Karachi, where Dr. Paras, a skilled surgeon, performed the tympanoplasty on 22-09-2023.
The surgery was a success, and Musfira’s condition improved significantly. After one day of post-operative care, she was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition.
Musfira’s heart is filled with gratitude towards the generous donors who played a pivotal role in her healing journey. As Musfira continues her recovery, she cherishes the gift of restored hearing and a life free from the burden of chronic ear discharge. She plans to make the most of this newfound health by focusing on her studies, pursuing her dreams, and enjoying the simple joys of life.
