Touseef’s Open-Heart Surgery was Successful
Muhammad Touseef's Story
Muhammad Touseef, a 12-year-old boy from Sahiwal, faced severe breathlessness, chest discomfort, and cyanosis since birth. His lips and skin often turned blue during physical activity, a sign of inadequate oxygenation. His inability to participate in games and other childhood activities left him isolated and fragile. Concerned about his condition, his parents received medical advice. After a thorough evaluation, the doctor diagnosed Touseef with Tetralogy of Fallot along with Absent Pulmonary Valve Syndrome (TOF-APVS). The doctor recommended angiography and open-heart surgery for Rastelli to correct these defects. However, the surgical cost was beyond his family’s reach.
Touseef lived in his uncle’s house along with his parents and siblings. Touseef’s father, the sole provider for the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and earned just PKR 40,000 per month. The cost of the surgery was far beyond their means, leaving the family distressed. In their search for help, they came across Transparent Hands and reached out for assistance. After listening to their concerns, we registered Touseef’s case to provide the treatment he needed.
On November 6, 2024, Touseef was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The surgery was performed on November 8, 2024, by Dr. Asim Khan and he successfully corrected the defects and restored proper heart function. Touseef remained in the hospital for six days under close observation and was discharged on November 14, 2024, in stable condition.
Touseef’s parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude as follows:
“Seeing my son’s suffering was unbearable. We didn’t have enough money to afford the surgery. Through your support, he is recovering and can finally enjoy the childhood he missed. We are extremely thankful to you for this life-saving surgery.”
Today, Touseef is regaining strength and confidence. He can run, play, and look forward to a brighter future. This change was made possible by your compassion and support. Touseef’s family extends their deepest gratitude to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for giving him a second chance at life.
