Waqas’s cardiac defect was repaired
Muhammad Waqas's Story
Muhammad Waqas, aged 25 years, was suffering from a febrile illness and took a routine physical examination for it. The examination revealed abnormally high blood pressure for someone as young as Waqas. The physician referred him to a cardiologist for detailed evaluation. Waqas’s angiography was performed and he was diagnosed with coarctation of the aorta (COA). In this condition, the major blood vessel carrying blood away from the heart to the body called aorta narrows down. The cardiologist recommended COA stenting for this defect. For this reason, Waqas was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital Lahore and the procedure was performed by Dr. Masood Sadiq on 11.02.2021. He stayed in the hospital for one day and was discharged in a stable condition. Waqas’s overall health has improved a great deal since the procedure was performed.
