Ali Afnan's Story

Ali Afnan, a 4-year-old young boy from Waziristan, KPK, was suffering from sensorineural hearing loss since early childhood. His parents learned about his condition when he was two years old. Concerned about his condition, they consulted a doctor. After some diagnostic tests, his doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery.

However, the financial burden of this crucial surgery was too much for Ali’s family. They couldn’t afford the costly procedure. Filled with hope, they approached Transparent Hands, seeking financial assistance to provide him with the life-changing surgery. With the support of our kind-hearted donors, we successfully raised funds for the surgery.

On 07-06-2024, Ali was admitted to GIMS Hospital, where a skilled surgeon, Dr. Maqbool Ahmad, installed the internal component of the cochlear implant. After just one day of hospitalization, Ali was discharged from the hospital. Ali’s life is filled with new hope and the promise of a bright future.

After six weeks, the external device for his cochlear implant was installed, marking another significant milestone in gaining the ability to hear. With speech therapy sessions, Ali looks forward to learning many words. He is taking small but significant steps.
