You Stood by Memona in Her Battle Against Heart Illness

Memona Maryam's Story

Memona Maryam, a 14-year-old girl from Jhang, was suffering from persistent shortness of breath and chest discomfort that worsened over time. Even simple activities like walking short distances or helping with daily chores left her gasping for air. Eventually, her lips and skin began turning blue. Her family took her to a hospital for a detailed medical evaluation. After undergoing a series of diagnostic tests, Memona was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a complex congenital heart condition involving four structural heart abnormalities. To correct her condition, the doctor recommended angiography and open-heart surgery for total correction. However, the cost of such a procedure was far beyond what her family could afford.

Memona lives in a small home with her parents and four siblings. Her father runs a modest grocery shop and earns around PKR 60,000 per month. With this income, they struggled to cover their utility bills, educational and food expenses. With eight family members relying on a single income, saving for an expensive heart surgery was impossible. During this time of need, Memona’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we swiftly registered her case.

On April 29, 2025, Memona was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. On April 30, 2025, her heart surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan. Following a smooth recovery and necessary post-operative care, Memona was discharged on May 7, 2025.

With a heart full of gratitude, Memona’s parents said:
