Change Minahil’s Life with Redo-Open Heart Surgery
Minahil Luqman's Story
Meet Minahil Luqman, an 11-year-old girl from Bahawalpur, who has been experiencing breathlessness, chest discomfort, and fatigue since birth. She previously underwent an arterial switch and VSD closure surgery in 2013 for the treatment of TGA and VSD. She went to a doctor for follow-up, who did some vital medical tests and diagnosed Minahil with
severe subvalvular pulmonary valve stenosis – a condition where the pulmonary valve is narrowed at subvalvular level, affecting blood flow from the heart to the lungs, leading to increased workload on the right ventricle.
The doctor recommended redo-open heart surgery for Pulmonary Artery Plasty (PA Plasty). However, Minhail’s family are unable to afford the surgery. If she doesn’t get the surgery soon, she may face significant complications including heart failure and arrhythmias as her heart works hard to pump blood throughout the body.
Minahil lives in her uncle’s house with her parents and one sibling. Her father is a daily wage laborer and brings in just PKR 15000 per month. With this meager monthly income, he hardly manages the mounting household expenses alongside educational expenses of PKR 2000 and utility bills totaling PKR 2000. Playing for Minahil’s life-saving surgery is significantly challenging for her family. During this challenging time, Minahil’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance. We listened to their concerns and registered her case.
Minahil’s parents shared their emotions as follows:
“Our child needs surgery, and we are terrified of losing her. We feel helpless as we can’t give her a healthy life. She wants to play like other kids but her heart just can’t keep up. This surgery is expensive and we can’t afford it. Please help save Minahil’s precious life.”
Not only will the redo-open heart surgery improve the blood flow in her heart but also improve her participation in daily activities, leading to better health outcomes.
We ask you to be generous and help Minahil get the surgery she desperately needs. Your contributions can make a meaningful difference in her life, allowing her to overcome this deteriorating heart condition.
Please donate today and help Minahil live a life free from pain and fear.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.

Minahil Luqman's Story
Minahil Luqman, an 11-year-old girl from Bahawalpur, had faced breathlessness, chest discomfort, and fatigue since birth. In 2013, she underwent an arterial switch and VSD closure surgery to treat Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA) and Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). However, during a recent follow-up, her doctors discovered she had developed severe subvalvular pulmonary stenosis. The doctor recommended redo-open-heart surgery for Pulmonary Artery Plasty to correct the defect and improve her quality of life. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for Minahil’s family.
Minahil lived in her uncle’s house with her parents and one sibling. Her father, the sole breadwinner in the family, worked as a daily wage laborer and brought in just PKR 15000 per month. This income was insufficient to cover even their household expenses. With limited resources, the family faced immense difficulty in affording Minahil’s surgery. With hope in their hearts, they turned to Transparent Hands for help. Upon hearing Minahil’s story, Transparent Hands quickly registered her case.
On November 13, 2024, Minahil was admitted to the Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. The surgery was skillfully performed by Dr. Asim Khan on November 14, 2024. After staying under close medical observation for four days, Minahil was discharged in stable condition on November 18, 2024.
Minahil’s parents, overjoyed with relief, shared their gratitude as follows:
“Our daughter can now live a normal and healthy life. We had nowhere else to turn to but you supported Minahil’s surgery. You have given her a new chance at life. We cannot thank you enough for this kindness.”
Minahil is now recovering well and looks forward to a future full of possibilities. Her family is immensely grateful to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for making this life-changing surgery possible. Your support brought hope and healing to Minahil’s life.
