Ashraf Dar's Story
Ashraf Dar, a 63-year-old resident of Lahore, is currently facing the challenges of a cataract in his right eye, causing severe visual impairment and immense difficulties in his daily life. With the doctor’s recommendation for the (R) Phaco + IOL procedure, Ashraf’s hope of reclaiming his eyesight shines brighter. However, financial constraints pose a significant hurdle on his path to recovery.
Having previously suffered from cataracts, Ashraf experienced discomfort and inconvenience that led to serious shortsightedness. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, his doctor prescribed surgery to restore his vision.
Unfortunately, Ashraf’s financial circumstances make it impossible for him to afford the necessary expenses. He lives in a small house in Lahore with his wife and three children. With a monthly income of approximately PKR 30,000 monthly, which is solely contributed by his son’s laborer wages, Ashraf finds himself in a challenging position to meet the surgical costs while also providing for his family’s basic needs.
Ashraf said in a depressed tone:

Ashraf Dar's Story
Ashraf Dar, a 63-year-old man from Lahore, was suffering from short-sightedness and blurry vision. Upon consultation with a doctor, he was diagnosed with a cataract in his right eye. To restore his vision, the doctor recommended Phaco+IOL surgery. However, affording the cost of the surgery was beyond his financial abilities as he was already facing financial hardships. His family has a meager monthly income and they live in a modest home. Ashraf’s life was badly affected by his visual impairment. He used to bump into things while walking and carrying out routine tasks became significantly challenging. He desperately needed the surgery but was unable to pay for it. If left untreated, the cataract could have become worse and increased the risk of glaucoma and even blindness. During this time of need, he contacted Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we promptly registered the case.
At Life Hospital Lahore, Dr. Shaheer performed his right Phaco + IOL surgery on 29th July 2024. Ashraf said with happiness, “I feel like my world is bright and colorful once more.
