It was recess time, all the children were running after each other, playing hide and seek. 5 years old Imtiaz Akhtar too was running after his friend trying to get hold of him when suddenly he fainted and his lips started to turn blue. He was immediately taken to a hospital where the doctor advised him to undergo angiography.
As per the results of Angiography, the cardiologist diagnosed him with a life-threatening atrial septal defect. ASD is a hole in the wall between the two upper chambers of the heart. Consequently, an atrial septal defect can cause blood to flow backwards into the right side of the heart and the lungs. Over time, Imtiaz Akhtar’s condition can lead to damage to blood vessels in the lungs and result in congestive heart failure. To fix this congenital defect, the doctors have advised him to undergo open-heart surgery.
However, Imtiaz Akhtar’s miseries do not end here. Now, his parents’ biggest worry is to raise money for the surgery since their financial situation cannot bear the cost of major surgery. His father hardly earns 5 thousand PKR per month. We urge you to donate for Imtiaz Akhtar’s open heart surgery and help them out of their misery.

Imtiaz Akhtar's Story
Imtiaz Akhtar, aged 14 years, used to rapidly get tired while playing football with his brothers. His nails and lips used to turn blue and he would become breathless on mild exertion. His parents took him to a doctor when he was 6 years old. There, in an ECHO report, Imtiaz was diagnosed with an atrial septal defect (ASD). The doctor advised surgical correction of Imtiaz’s congenital cardiac defect. For this purpose, he was admitted to The University of Lahore Teaching Hospital and his open heart surgery for ASD closure was performed by Dr. Faiz Rasool on 28.02.2021. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Imtiaz’s overall health has improved a great deal after his open heart surgery.
