Khurshaid Bibi's Story

Khurshaid Bibi, aged 40 years, suffered from frequent episodes of abdominal pain for the last six years. She ignored the pain and did not have herself checked initially. However, her pain increased manifolds over the last few weeks. She also felt nauseous. Since her symptoms turned worse, she decided to consult a local physician. On thorough investigation, she was diagnosed to have symptomatic gallstones. The doctor advised surgical removal of the gall bladder through a procedure called cholecystectomy.

However, Khurshaid hails from a humble background and her husband works as a security guard. He earns a monthly living of only PKR 29,000. Their financial situation worsened because of COVID-19 as the offices remained closed and Khurshaid’s husband did not get paid for a few months. In these difficult circumstances, she did not want to burden her husband further. Luckily during one of her appointments, her physician told her about Transparent Hands. She came to our office, inquired about our services and got herself registered. She shared her thoughts with us stating that, 

“My husband toils day and night. We have been going through a very tough time. In these circumstances, my conscience does not allow me to spend even a single penny on myself. I think it would be too selfish of me.”
