Razia Begum's Story

Before you dive into Razia Begum’s tale of woes, we want to know that you can help her get rid of this pain. The only thing standing between Razia Begum and the surgery she needs is financial constraints. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Razia’s Hernia Repair as much as you can.

Fifty-six-year-old Razia Begum has been in a perpetual state of discomfort for the last three months. Along with discomfort, she has been facing severe abdominal pain. After consultation, she was diagnosed with Paraumbilical Hernia. A Paraumbilical Hernia is a hole in the connective tissue of the abdominal wall in the midline with close approximation to the umbilicus.

To treat this condition, the doctor advised her to undergo mesh repair surgery. But, due to limited financial resources, Razia Begum was not in a position to arrange for the major surgery. Therefore, Razia Begum resorted to medication for temporary relief. Now, surgery has become crucial for Razia Begum. Mesh repair is probably the safest way of treating a hernia. Surgical meshes are made of biological material and are placed in a manner such that they support the damaged tissue. While there is no doubt about the effectiveness of this surgical procedure, it is an expensive procedure. Razia Begum’s son is the sole earner of the family. He works as a manual laborer on daily wages and hardly manages to earn PKR 18,000 per month. With this income, he is in no position to arrange for his mother’s surgery. He told us

“Whoever is reading this, I request you to please help me and my distressed mother who has been waiting for her hernia repair surgery.”

After a lot of distress, Razia Begum has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We have assured her that we will arrange her surgery as soon as possible. Now, all we need is your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Razia’s Hernia Repair as much as you can.
