Zakir Hussain's Story

Before you proceed to read the story, please know that we need your kind help to get Zakir Hussain back on his feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Zakir’s knee replacement surgery.

For the last seven years, Zakir Hussain has been suffering from Osteoarthritis involving both knees. Osteoarthritis is a condition which causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become rougher thus creating friction. As a result, the movement becomes painful and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Zakir Hussain is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for him.

To treat this, the orthopedic surgeon has advised Zakir Hussain to undergo a total knee replacement surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability. At first, the orthopedic surgeon will perform this surgery on the right leg. Later, after his right leg recovers, it will be performed on his left leg.

While the knee replacement seems like an easy solution to all of Zakir’s problems, it is certainly not an affordable solution for him. Zakir Hussain cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Due to his old age and deteriorating health, Zakir Hussain has been unable to work. Therefore, he relies on his son who is a salesman and does not earn enough to arrange for his father’s surgery. He told us:

“In the last seven years, I have seen my father slowly deteriorate and become the mere shadow of the person he used to be. I miss his free spirit and jokes. Please help him get back up on his feet.”

As a last resort, Zakir Hussain’s son has registered his case with Transparent Hands. We request you to please donate for Zakir’s knee replacement surgery.

Zakir Hussain's Story

Zakir Hussain, a 70-years-old resident of Nagrian, was suffering from advanced bilateral knee osteoarthritis. His right knee was affected more than his left one. A total knee replacement (TKR) for his right leg was done on 03-02-22 at City Hospital, Gujrat by Dr. Zahid Siddique. He remained admitted to the hospital for four days and recovered well. He was discharged in satisfactory condition. Slowly, Zakir Hussain is getting back on his feet again.
