Mursal Hassan's Story
Mursal has a strong urge to live. Her silence is screaming loud and asking for a chance to live, to breathe and to exist. Only your donations can now save her!
Mursal was only 1 year old when she was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. It was the time her parents learned to deal with the fear they never knew had existed. It was the fear of losing their daughter forever. At the age of 7 when other children in her neighborhood were accumulating dirt and bruise from playing outdoors, Mursal had undergone her first BT Shunt surgery in 2008 after which she could barely move or walk. Just two years later, at the age of 9, this poor girl again underwent her second (TOF repair surgery) in French Hospital in Kabul. Though there was some initial recovery seen in her health, permanent relief couldn’t be found.
Amidst the war and Taliban attacks, Mursal’s family had to leave Kabul and their own home and move to Qasaba that is somehow safe. Mursal’s father Naseer Hassan is a shopkeeper and the only earning member of the family with a monthly income of 10,000 Afghani rupees. Their family somehow manages within this limited income to support Mursal’s studies who is the student of class 10. Her elder brother is a student of class 12 and her three younger sisters are also schooling. Despite all these hardships, Mursal’s father has always given much importance to the education of his children.
There is no well-equipped hospital in their town to treat Mursal. Her condition is getting worse with each passing day. She feels difficulty in breathing and unable to walk or run. She immediately needs surgery and any delay in her treatment may even result in her death. She is unable to go to school these days because of weakness, chest pain and breathing difficulty.
Mursal’s parents had no other option but to come to Pakistan for their daughter’s treatment. They have already used all their saving and now they are left with nothing. In this tough time, they came to know about Transparent Hands. Mursal is scheduled for her Open Heart Surgery in a few days at Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore but her struggles don’t end here. She needs your support in her life-saving surgery.
“We dearly love our daughter but we don’t possess enough wealth to afford the expensive open heart surgery to relieve her pain”, say Mursal’s parents.
Every life is worth saving. Let’s donate today to let Mursal live a healthy and normal life!
