Azeem Khan's Story

The 31-year-old Azeem Khan’s life took an unpleasant turn recently, as he became a victim of an accident that left him unconscious for hours. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was revived alright, but the true horrors of the accident dawned a couple of weeks later. Azeem started having difficulty breathing through the nose and had to visit a doctor in the Mardan Medical Complex. There, Azeem was diagnosed with a deviated nasal septum, an imprint of the horrible accident Azeem had been a victim of. The doctors have advised Azeem to undergo a septoplasty, the surgical procedure which can straighten a person’s bone that separates the two nostrils.

The story is going in the right direction so far. All that Azeem has got to do now is undergoing a septoplasty. But there is a catch. Azeem can simply NOT afford a surgical procedure like septoplasty. And the reason for that is understandable as well. All that Azeem earns per month is 6,000 PKR, that too in the manner of daily wages. Azeem’s family lives in a two-Marla house, and the patient has five kids. Hence, expecting Azeem to be able to afford a septoplasty is nothing but a cruel joke on the family.
