Khalid Azam's Story

Around a month ago, Khalid Azam (aged 18) was going about his usual chores at his job. As a caretaker at an old-age home, his morning started with cleaning out the residents’ rooms. An unexpected pain shot up his stomach that he could not account for.

“It felt like a sharp tearing pain. It was really intense!”

He visited his local clinic and after a thorough check-up, the doctor advised some tests, which confirmed that Khalid needs a surgery- a hernioplasty for a Right Inguinal Hernia.

A timely diagnosis did not solve all his worries, though. Earning hardly 15,000 PKR a month, the surgery expenses are not within his means.

“I felt completely healthy the day before and suddenly, a surgery is sprung on me. I earn very little and my household subsists on my earning. My father cannot work. My siblings are at school. How will I run the house and find the money for this procedure?”

All Khalid’s family have to their name is a small dwelling in their village. Selling that would leave the 6 members homeless.

Khalid has approached Transparent Hands with hopes of assistance. Any contributions, big or small, can help him in this dire situation.
