Abdul Hameed, an 80-year-old man from Lahore, is experiencing pain and swelling around the anus. He also faces bleeding during bowel movements. Activities such as sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods have become challenging for him. Abdul Hameed went to a nearby hospital and consulted a doctor, who ran an ultrasound scan and some lab tests. He was diagnosed with third-degree hemorrhoids. It is an internal hemorrhoid that bulges from the anus during bowel movements and must be pushed back in manually. To alleviate his pain and discomfort, the doctor recommended hemorrhoidectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is overwhelming for his family.
If his condition is left untreated, there is a risk of complications such as thrombosis or infection, which can further impact his quality of life. Over time, untreated hemorrhoids may also lead to significant bleeding and anemia.
Abdul Hameed lives in a modest home with his joint family of 12 members. He is old and ill now, therefore, he can’t provide for his family. His two sons are daily wage laborers with a modest income. Abdul Hameed's Story
Abdul Hameed, an 80-year-old resident of Lahore, had been suffering from intense pain and swelling around his anal region. With each passing day, simple movements like sitting, walking, and even standing became increasingly difficult for him. He also experienced bleeding during bowel movements, which added to his discomfort and anxiety. Realizing that his condition was getting worse, Abdul Hameed visited a nearby hospital for a proper medical evaluation. The doctor advised an ultrasound scan along with several lab tests. After reviewing the results, he was diagnosed with third-degree hemorrhoids. To ease his suffering, the doctor recommended a hemorrhoidectomy. However, the cost of the surgery was beyond the reach of his family.
Abdul Hameed lived in a small home shared by a joint family of 12 members. Due to his age and illness, he was no longer able to earn a living. His two sons, who worked as daily wage laborers, bore the burden of supporting the entire household. With limited income and multiple mouths to feed, the family could not possibly afford the surgical expenses. Watching their father in pain while being unable to help him left them heartbroken and desperate. During this time of need, Abdul Hameed’s family turned to Transparent Hands. With the support of generous donors, Abdul Hameed was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Lahore. On February 10, 2025, Dr. Ahmed Fawad performed a successful hemorrhoidectomy. After proper post-operative care, he was discharged in a stable condition on February 11, 2025.
With visible relief on his face, Abdul Hameed said, “Your kindness brought me comfort in my old age. I can finally sit and rest without pain. May you be blessed for helping me. I will forever remain grateful for this generosity.”
