Hamna Bibi's Story

For Hamna, a life immersed in silence has been her constant companion. The weight of her hearing impairment bears down on her, resulting in profound loneliness and a sense of isolation from society. Although a surgical procedure holds the promise of restoring her hearing, her family’s limited financial means stand as a formidable barrier to accessing the treatment. Your generous contribution possesses the transformative ability to grant Hamna the precious gift of sound, bringing hope and new horizons to her world. Hamna awaits Cochlear Implant Surgery to bring hope for a normal life.

Three-year-old Hamna, a resident of Bannu, has been suffering from congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents realised she was not responding to their voices when she was a year old, and they were concerned. Her parents took her to the local hospital, where her tests were done. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised her to undergo cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant is a small electronic device used to stimulate the cochlear nerve (hearing nerve) electrically.

Hamna lives in a rented house with her parents and one sibling. Her father is the only breadwinner in the family and earns PKR 18,000 per month. Her father’s financial position won’t allow him to pay for the surgical expenses. He said it in a despairing tone.

“Our daughter is unable to hear due to a treatment that is too expensive for us. Her hearing loss is causing her great distress. We kindly ask for your help in making this treatment possible. Your support would mean the world to us and bring immense happiness to her life.”

Her father contacted Transparent Hands to register the case. She awaits cochlear implant surgery to discover the world of sounds. We urge you to donate generously to her treatment to help her communicate with her loved ones.
