Ameer Hamza's Story

For the past two decades, Ameer Hamza, a 26-year-old resident of Quetta, has endured a life filled with misery and hardship. It all began with a tragic roadside accident that left him with a severe injury to his right leg. Twenty years ago, his leg was amputated below the knee, forever altering the course of his life. Since then, he has relied on a below-knee prosthesis, which is now worn out, desperately in need of an Artificial Leg to regain his mobility and independence.

Ameer’s disability has rendered him unable to provide for his beloved family. In a rented house in Quetta, he resides with his wife, one child, and his father, who is the sole breadwinner. His father’s income of just PKR 25,000 per month is barely enough to cover their basic needs. With a monthly house rent of PKR 12,000, utility bills amounting to PKR 1,000, and the challenges of managing daily expenses, they find themselves in a constant struggle to make ends meet.

Ameer, with a heavy heart, shares his anguish, “These past two decades have been filled with immense pain and hardship. My disability has not only taken away my ability to walk but has also robbed me of the opportunity to provide for my family. Seeing my worn-out prosthesis reminds me of the limitations that hold me back from leading a life of dignity and purpose.”
