Help Arif Stand Back on His Feet
Muhammad Arif's Story
In the city of Okara, Muhammad Arif, a 47-year-old resident, faced a life-altering challenge when his right leg had to be amputated due to a severe infection. This unfortunate event left Muhammad Arif in need of a right-above-knee prosthesis to regain mobility and independence. However, his disability rendered him unable to work, intensifying the financial strain on his already struggling family.
Muhammad Arif, living in a small house in Okara with his wife and three children, relied solely on his wife’s income as a house cleaner, earning approximately 17,000 rupees per month. Her wife is the sole earner in the family. This meager amount made it difficult for them to meet their basic needs, especially with utility bills amounting to 2,000 rupees and a loan of 200,000 rupees, burdening them further.
Arif said with teary eyes:
“Facing this overwhelming health crisis and the loss of my leg has left me feeling powerless. All I want is to regain my independence and provide for my beloved family. The mounting bill of an artificial leg has placed a heavy burden on us, making it difficult to see a way out of this constant struggle.”
In their quest for a solution, Muhammad Arif and his family turned to Transparent Hands, where his case was promptly registered, and the urgency of his need for a right-above-knee prosthesis was recognized. Muhammad Arif's Story
Muhammad Arif, a 47-year-old resident of Okara, was suffering from a severe infection on his right leg. Upon Consultation, the doctor recommended right above-knee amputation, as a life-saving procedure. After undergoing the amputation, the condition badly affected his daily chores and made him dependent upon his family.
His doctor recommended an above-knee Prosthesis to regain mobility and independence. A prosthesis is an artificial limb that is used in replacement of a missing body part.
After this life-altering incident, his wife became the breadwinner for the entire family. She was earning a meager monthly income of PKR 17,000 only. After struggling for a while, Arif’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for financial assistance. To restore Arif’s mobility and improve the quality of his life, we registered his case.
With your contributions, Arif’s right leg was fitted with an above-knee prosthesis by Dr. Khalid at Hope Rehabilitation Centre on 29-05-2024. Arif was discharged on the same day, with new hope and determination. His heart filled with joy to see himself taking the first steps toward regaining his mobility.
Arif said with gratitude: “I couldn’t bear and afford to remain dependent on other people. Now, I have embarked on the journey towards regaining independence. I am thankful for all the support from Transparent Hands and the generous donors.”
The artificial leg has renewed his life. We couldn’t have achieved this milestone without our donors’ support.
