Noor Um Ul Banin's Story

Noor Um Ul Banin, a 3-year-old resident of Jhelum is a precious little girl whose life can be transformed by cochlear implant surgery. Without this procedure, she would face challenges in learning and communicating, and she would miss out on the joys of hearing the world around her. Her family has been deeply saddened by her inability to hear and they are desperately seeking help. Noor, who is three years old and resides in Jhelum, has been diagnosed with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. Her parents first noticed her lack of response to sounds when she was just a year old. Concerned, they took her to the nearest hospital for testing, where it was confirmed that she had sensorineural deafness. The doctors recommended cochlear implant surgery as the best course of action. A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that stimulates the cochlear nerve, allowing the individual to hear. It consists of both external and internal components, with the external part attached behind the ear, processing sounds through a microphone before transmitting them to the implant in the ear.

Noor comes from a modest household of five members, where her father is the sole breadwinner. He earns a meager income of only PKR 25,000 per month. Unfortunately, this amount is not enough to cover the expenses of the necessary surgical procedure, leaving them in a state of desperation. Noor’s father expressed his distress, saying:

“It breaks my heart that I cannot afford the cochlear implant surgery for my daughter. I worry about her future every day. Please consider donating to help us.”
