Muhammad Faraz's Story

Muhammad Faraz, an eight-year-old resident of Jhang, has been grappling with the challenges brought on by a diagnosis of B/L subluxated lens since a young age. This condition has caused him immense discomfort and severely impaired his vision.

Concerned about their son’s well-being, Faraz’s parents took him to a local hospital for medical consultation. After consulting with an eye specialist, they were informed that surgery was the only viable option to restore Faraz’s vision and provide him with a brighter future. The recommended procedure is a (L) lensectomy plus scleral fixation IOL, which involves removing the affected lens and securing an intraocular lens through scleral fixation.

However, as a family with limited financial means, the cost of this surgery exceeds their capabilities. With heavy hearts, his mother expressed her sentiments:

“Each day, his world becomes increasingly unclear, hindering his ability to learn, play, and engage with the world around him. I humbly reach out to the compassionate members of our community, seeking your support in this critical surgery.”

This condition has not only caused him significant discomfort but has also severely impaired his vision, impacting his daily life and prospects. Recognizing the importance of their son's well-being, Faraz's parents sought medical consultation at a local hospital, where an eye specialist recommended surgery as the only viable option to restore his vision and provide him with a brighter future. Specifically, a (L) LMA with anterior viterectomy was deemed necessary.

However, the financial burden associated with the surgery posed a significant obstacle for Faraz's family, who had limited financial means. Thankfully, Faraz's case was registered with Transparent Hands.

Through our support, Faraz was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital, Multan, where Dr. Asif successfully performed the surgery on January 20, 2024. After receiving one day of post-operative care, Faraz was discharged from the hospital.
