Kalsoom Hassan's Story

Please donate to help Kalsoom walk properly. For the last one year, Kalsoom Hassan, a 56-year-old resident of Lahore,  had been enduring the pain in her right knee joint. She got her knee injured in a road accident. She went to consult different doctors and was initially prescribed symptomatic treatment. With the passage of time, her pain only worsened and she is now unable to walk on her own. She lives with her son, so it has become difficult for her to continue doing her daily chores while her son is at work. It affected both her physical and mental health.

After another consultation, she was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis (OA) of the right knee. Knee OA is the result of articular cartilage degeneration without any known reason. This is typically thought of as degeneration due to age as well as wear and tear. After the diagnosis, Kalsoom was advised to undergo a Total Knee Replacement surgery. Total Knee Replacement surgery (TKR) is a complex procedure in which effective joint surfaces are replaced with artificial joints.

“This pain has limited my life and confined me in this house. Some days when the pain is bearable, I do as much as I can. Other days, I just sadly see my son struggling to cook food for the both of us.”

Kalsoom’s son is a Factory worker and his income is merely enough to pay the bills. He hardly earns enough to feed his family and cannot afford this costly procedure for his mother.

After a lot of distress and with the help of her doctor, Kalsoom has registered her case with Transparent Hands. We are determined to get her happy and healthy as soon as we can. But, it won’t be possible without your help. Know that you can get Kalsoom back on her feet. Therefore, we request you to please donate  as much as you can and help Kalsoom walk properly again.
