Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in Pakistan. Numerous people across the country are suffering due to cataract, and their quality of life has been significantly affected. 

Recently, Transparent Hands provided life-changing cataract surgeries to 69 deserving patients.

After consulting doctors, these patients were diagnosed with cataract in one or both eyes. Cataract made it challenging for them to continue their jobs and fulfill their responsibilities at home.  These patients were advised to undergo Phacoemulsification and Intraocular Lens (IOL) Implantation. They belonged to low-income families and lived in underprivileged communities. Therefore, they could not afford treatment on their own. 

They reached out to Transparent Hands for help, and we registered their cases. With your generous support, their cataract surgeries were successfully performed at Khursheed Begum Eye Hospital and Life Hospital, Lahore. Expert ophthalmologists carried out these procedures, and high-quality Aspheric IOL lenses were implanted to restore their eyesight. These intraocular lenses provide excellent visual outcomes and are highly suitable for patients suffering from cataract.

In Pakistan, cataract is the leading cause of blindness, accounting for more than 51% of all cases. For these 51 individuals, the hope of seeing clearly again was slowly slipping away. With your generous support, Transparent Hands made a life-changing difference. These patients had been battling with the hardships of vision loss, which made simple daily activities like cooking, walking, or recognizing the faces of loved ones incredibly difficult.

After thorough medical evaluations, each of them was diagnosed with cataract in one or both eyes. They were advised to undergo Phacoemulsification and Intraocular Lens (Phaco + IOL) implantation as the only effective treatment. Unfortunately, the cost of surgery was far beyond their means. Most of them were daily wage earners, homemakers, or sole breadwinners for their families. As their vision deteriorated, so did their ability to work and care for their loved ones, leaving them feeling hopeless and isolated.

Through the incredible generosity of donors, Transparent Hands was able to provide them with free cataract surgeries. These life-changing procedures were carried out by experienced ophthalmologists. Each patient received high-quality intraocular lenses, known for their superior visual outcomes.

We also ensured that these patients received complete post-operative care, including follow-up consultations and essential medications, entirely free of charge. Every precaution was taken to maintain the highest standard of hygiene and patient safety.
