Usmana Bibi's Story

Usmana Bibi, a 47-year-old woman from Karachi, is approaching the final trimester of her pregnancy. Currently over 28 weeks along, she is facing a critical time as she prepares for the safe arrival of her baby. Due to her previous C-section and medical condition, the doctor has recommended another C-section to ensure the safety of both the mother and child. Her obstetric history is G6P5+0, meaning she has already had five childbirths, and the risks associated with this delivery are high. However, the cost of this C-section is beyond her family’s means.

If Usmana does not undergo the recommended C-section, it will lead to life-threatening complications for both her and her baby. It may result in severe maternal or neonatal health risks, including prolonged labor, uterine rupture, or fetal distress.

Usmana lives with her husband and five children in a small rented house, paying PKR 8,000 for rent monthly. Two of her children attend school, and the monthly educational expenses add up to PKR 2,000. In addition, the family pays PKR 3,000 for utility bills every month. Her husband, who works as a driver, earns just PKR 35,000 per month, which barely covers their basic household needs. On top of this, the family is also burdened with a loan of PKR 100,000, further deepening their financial stress. Unfortunately, arranging money for her much-needed surgery seems impossible for them under such strained circumstances.

With a heavy heart, Usmana Bibi said:

“My only wish is to hold a healthy baby in my arms. However, this wish feels so far out of reach because we simply don’t have the money for the C-section. My husband is doing his best, but we face immense financial hardships. I request you to support my surgery.”
