Maqbool Illahi's Story

Maqbool Illahi, a 53-year-old resident of Lahore, has been grappling with a debilitating cataract in his right eye. The condition has steadily worsened, leaving him with increasing difficulty in navigating his daily life. After a thorough examination, Maqbool’s doctor recommended a Phaco and IOL surgery to address the issue and restore his vision.

He lives in a small house in Lahore with his three daughters and a wife. As a factory worker, he earns a modest income of just PKR 41,000 per month, which barely covers the essential expenses for his family of five. From the PKR 4,000 in school fees for his three daughters to the PKR 2,500 in monthly utility bills, Maqbool’s limited resources are stretched thin, leaving him with little to spare for the required surgical procedure.

Maqbool’s struggle extends beyond the physical limitations of his condition. He longs to see the faces of his beloved wife and children with clarity, to be able to navigate his surroundings with confidence, and to continue providing for his family as he has always done.

“The cataract has become a barrier between me and the world I hold dear,” Maqbool shares, his voice heavy with emotion. “I fear the day when I may no longer be able to fulfill my duties as the breadwinner and caregiver for my loved ones.”

Faced with this daunting challenge, Maqbool has turned to Transparent Hands. With a humble heart, he reaches out to the compassionate members of his community, appealing for their support and financial contributions.

“Your generosity can be the light that guides me towards a brighter future, where I can reclaim my independence and continue to provide for my family,” Maqbool pleads.

Your contribution can make a profound difference in his life, restoring his sight and empowering him to regain his role as a firm pillar of his family.
