Mehmona Yousaf's Story

Before you dive into the details of Mehmona’s ailments, please know that you can help her. Your donation, however small it may be, will help Mehmona walk again. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Mehmona Yousaf’s K-Wires Removal as much as you can.

Two years ago, seventeen-year-old Mehmona suffered from a traumatic fall in which she sustained fractures on both her legs. Mehmona’s initial treatment was done at a public hospital where her right femur and tibia fractures were fixed through surgery. Unfortunately, Mehmona’s fracture of the right ankle could not heal properly and the implants became immensely painful for her.

Therefore, to treat this condition, the doctor advised Mehmona to undergo a fusion surgery in which her right ankle and fibula (the small bone from the lower leg) will be fixed. Her Pantalar Fusion along with K wires fixation was done with the help of Transparent Hands. Now, she is advised for the removal of her K wires.

But, unfortunately, Mehmona’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of this orthopedic surgery. Her mother is the sole earner of the family. Mehmona’s mother works as a cook in someone’s house and hardly manages to earn PKR 15,000 per month. With this little income and a large family to support, it is not possible for her to manage the expenses for her daughter. She told us:

“Transparent Hands helped me last time and made my surgery possible. I have all my hopes tied with them this time too. I know they will help me get through this again.”

Mehmona’s case is registered with Transparent Hands. We wish to get her back on her feet as soon as we can. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Mehmona Yousaf’s K-Wires removal. Donate generously and ease her pain.

Mehmona Yousaf's Story

Mehmona Yousaf, a 17-year-old resident of Lahore, fell from the rooftop and her right foot was injured. Upon being rushed to the hospital, she was given first aid and was treated symptomatically. But the pain persisted and worsened. Her mother took her to several hospitals for treatment, but Mehmona wasn’t cured. Finally, they came to Transparent Hands to seek help. Mehmona Yousaf was diagnosed with a neglected right talus fracture and operated with Pantalar fusion with K-wires placement. She contacted us again for her K-wires removal. For this purpose, she was sent to PSRD Orthopedic Hospital on 21-01-2022 to get her K-wires removed by Dr. Saleem Bashir. She was discharged after two days of hospital stay in satisfactory condition. Mehmona is walking normally again.
