Motshi Johnson's Story

Motshi Johnson, a 30-year-old woman from Lahore, has been suffering from severe pain in her genital area, accompanied by the sensation of a lump for one year. This condition has significantly affected her daily activities, making even routine tasks like walking, sitting, and performing household tasks difficult. Motshi went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who performed a thorough examination and diagnosed her with a left Bartholin cyst. It is a condition where a gland in the genital area becomes blocked and swollen, causing significant pain. The doctor recommended Marsupialization of the cyst, a surgical procedure to drain the cyst and relieve the symptoms. However, Motshi’s family cannot afford the cost of the surgery due to their limited income.

The constant discomfort limits Motshi’s ability to focus on her work and responsibilities, leaving her physically drained. If Motshi does not receive the surgery, the cyst may continue to grow, causing worsening pain and increasing the risk of an abscess or infection. This will lead to severe complications, including long-term health issues.

Motshi lives in a rented house with her four family members. Her father, the sole breadwinner of the family, works as an electrician, earning PKR 35,000 per month. This income is barely enough to cover their house rent of PKR 10,000 and daily expenses. Motshi’s much-needed surgery is expensive and their financial hardships make it challenging for them to pay for it. With time, Motshi’s condition is worsening and her family is worried. During this time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.

Motshi shared her plea as follows:

“The pain is unbearable, and I fear it will only get worse. My father works so hard to provide for us, but we just can’t afford this surgery. I want to be free from this pain and live a healthy life again. I request you to please help me.”

Transparent Hands has registered Motshi’s case. With your generous contributions, Motshi can undergo the surgery, regain her health and live without the constant pain.

Motshi Johnson's Story

Motshi Johnson, a 30-year-old woman from Lahore, faced a year-long struggle with severe pain in her genital area. Alongside the discomfort, she experienced the constant sensation of a painful lump, which made everyday tasks like walking, sitting, and managing household chores almost unbearable. In search of relief, Motshi visited a local hospital, where a thorough medical examination revealed that she had developed a Bartholin cyst. This condition occurs when a gland near the vaginal opening becomes blocked, resulting in a swollen, fluid-filled lump that causes intense discomfort. The doctor advised her to undergo Marsupialization —a procedure that would drain the cyst and relieve her symptoms permanently.

Although the surgery was necessary, the cost was far beyond what Motshi and her family could afford. She lives in a modest rented house with four family members. Her father, the family’s only source of income, works as an electrician and earns around PKR 35,000 per month. His earnings are barely enough to cover the household expenses, leaving no room for unexpected medical costs. Just when hope seemed out of reach, Motshi learned about Transparent Hands and asked for help. We immediately registered her case.

On March 13, 2025, Motshi was admitted to Akram Medical Complex in Lahore. Dr. Asia Nasir skillfully performed the Marsupialization of cyst. The surgery was a success, and Motshi received proper post-operative care before being discharged the next day in stable condition.

With heartfelt gratitude, Motshi said:

"This surgery has changed my life. The pain that once controlled every part of my day is finally gone. I feel free again, and I thank every kind person who made this possible."

Motshi is now on her way to a pain-free and active life. Her recovery has brought immense relief not only to her but also to her family.

Your generous support made her recovery possible. She is thankful to you for giving her the gift of comfort and hope.
